Harnessing Solar Energy
Malaysia is blessed with abundant sunlight in every part of the country with average daily sunshine hours in Malaysia ranging between 4 and 6 hours per day. This condition is ideal for solar energy generation and the Government is keen on developing solar power as one of the major renewable energy sources. Net Energy Metering Scheme (NEM) was introduced through the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) for this purpose.
Joining in to realise Malaysia’s Renewable Energy (RE) uptake, BERNAS and its group of companies have embarked on an energy efficiency initiative by installing the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System on the roof of its facilities to generate an alternative power supply for the rice milling plants.
The energy generated from the solar PV installation will be consumed by the facility first, and any excess energy will be exported back to TNB using a System Marginal Price (SMP) method.
