BERNAS Confirms Full Disbursement of RM90 Million Special Aid To Support Malaysian Paddy Farmers
SHAH ALAM, 6cash April 2025 – Padiberas Nasional Berhad (BERNAS) today reaffirmed its full commitment to the welfare of Malaysian paddy farmers, announcing the complete disbursement of the RM90 million Special Aid Allocation for Paddy Farmers, to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS).
This move aligns with BERNAS’ pledge to support the MADANI government’s initiatives in uplifting the livelihood of underprivileged farmers and ensuring national food security.
The fund, entirely contributed by BERNAS without the use of public funds, was disbursed in two phases. The first phase of RM60 million was released in stages, with the final instalment of RM15 million completed on 5 March 2025. The additional RM30 million cash aid as announced by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 13 February 2025, was fully paid to the government on 28 March 2025.
“As a private entity, all contributions were subjected to rigorous internal financial governance to ensure compliance and accountability,” BERNAS said in a statement.
The company reiterated its ongoing support for the Ministry’s long-term action plans to enhance the welfare of farmers, ensure a stable and sufficient rice supply for all Malaysians. BERNAS continues to work closely with MAFS and other stakeholders to implement strategic initiatives that benefit farmers and bolster the nation's food security agenda.
