Large Scale Smart Paddy Field Initiative Leads the Way in Technological Advancements as BERNAS Reinforces Commitment to Food Security Agenda
Serdang, 13 September 2024 – Padiberas Nasional Berhad (BERNAS), the Malaysian Government's preferred partner in driving the Food Security Agenda highlight its innovations and technological advancements at this year’s Malaysia Agricultural, Horticulture and Agrotourism (MAHA 2024) exhibition.
Notable features include the Large Scale Smart Paddy Field (SMART SBB) programme, covering over 1,881 hectares across 10 states nationwide. This initiative empowers farmers with cutting-edge mechanisation technology, showcasing Malaysia's industry progress and BERNAS' leadership in driving the sector forward.

YB Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad bin Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, commended BERNAS for its involvement in the bi-annual MAHA exhibition, acknowledging the Company's contributions to the sector.
"BERNAS plays a crucial role in our journey towards ensuring a safe, sufficient, and sustainable national rice supply. Their commitment to industry best practices and technological innovations has been instrumental in strengthening our agricultural sector," stated YB Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad bin Sabu.
As part of its showcase at BERNAS Pavilion and the Galeri Padi BERNAS, the Company’s main objectives at MAHA 2024 is to educate visitors, delegates and stakeholders and create a deeper understanding on the importance of food security and how the rice industry is critical to this stability. To that end, BERNAS also hopes to engage more youth, as they are vital towards the growth and future of the sector.
Besides educational exhibits, an array of engaging activities and contests will be available to visitors, providing unique insights into BERNAS' impact on the paddy industry. These include:
